Bright and Early, Long and Hard
Today started just like any other Monday, bright and early. 5:30am and my alarm blasted in my ear, as always it's the sound of a rooster. As I roll out of my bed I look at my clock again and cant believe I get up so early just to go lift and get in a run. As a move around and fix me something to eat and get myself ready to jump on the bus to head to campus I look up at my mirror and see my hand writing. "DO WHAT YOU LOVE" these words motivate me every morning/day to do what I love the most, RUN. Lifting went as it did last Monday, arms for days BUT for some reason the little leg circuit we did jacked my legs up before the run. Sluggish, heavy and sleepy I had to get my run in. Loved the weather this morning as it was about 65 - 69 degrees at 7:45am. OH afternoons in NC in September shouldn't be this hot. It was about 91 degrees today at practice and guess what? No easy run day but workout day. Just my luck I had been drinking water all day and ate a good lunch. The workout wasn't easy but I call it an medium day. 6 by 300m at 51sec on the track. Haven't done this workout in a while and boy the last two hurt. I forgot how much I have a love hate relationship with butt lock (lactic acid). But I got on the line with my teammates encouraged them to give it their all and said that "this is the last 300 of the 800 or 1500". Even though I didn't hit the time I was proud of my training group. We pulled each other along and made the best of a good workout.
Take it as you may but no matter what your goals are in whatever you do you have to sacrifice to get to the top. Waking up before the birds chirp or the sun is up comes with the territory of being the best you can be. Take each day one step at a time and think about what is the best for you. Sacrifice comes with success and without it you cant be the best at what you do. Work hard, play harder, but be smart with all matters of your life. Have a lovely Monday night!
