8 Ways to Get in a Spooky Mood for Halloween
Halloween is my third favorite holiday, it's right behind my birthday and Christmas. And I'm always in the mood for spooky fun around this time of the year. I don't know about you but, Halloween movies, Halloween decorations, and stuffing my face with LOTS of candy is all at the top of my list come October 1st. I've always been one for lots of SCARY things but as I've gotten older I've learned to appreciate the simplicities of Halloween; if there's such a thing. Here are 8 ways I prepare for Halloween. What are some of your favorite ways to get in the Halloween Spirit?
Bake Halloween Cookies. You can either do this from scratch of buy some of your favorite Halloween Cookies from your local grocery store. There's just something about making holiday themed cookies that get me in such a great mood. Sharing them with friends makes it even that more special. What person doesn't want pumpkin, ghost, and mummy shaped cookies?
Decorate Your House. It has always been a tradition in my family to make the house as scary as ever. Spiderwebs, glowing ghost, and a very haunted house feel is what gets me in high spirits. When trick or treaters come to the door will they be scared? I ask myself this question every year and I try to top the previous year.
Find Your Halloween Costume. I start this process literally at the beginning of the new year. This year I've yet to find the "perfect" costume but I know it will come to me soon enough. Finding a scary, fun, or sexy Halloween costume is always fun. The next step is finding a place to where it.
Carve A Pumpkin. This is an annual thing in my house. You can't have Halloween without a couple of pumpkins carved in front of your home. There are plenty of kits that come with stencils you can get or you can get creative and come up with your own ideas. My favorite idea floating around at the moment is painting your pumpkin. No carving, no mess, but so much creativity of what can be put on a pumpkin.
Watch a Scary Movie. There are new movies out right now that will get in you in the Halloween mood; such as IT. But when it comes to Halloween movies I can't get over the classics. Some of my favorites are Halloween, Hocus Pocus, Beetlejuice, The Addams Family, and Nightmare on Elm Street.
Buy Candy. Now if your anything like I am, it's hard to have candy in the house and not eat it all. But with all the big bags of Halloween candy in stores you can't help but buy more than you actually need for passing out. I love getting the mixed bags of chocolate and lollipops. Yes I might have to buy one or two more bags by the big day but it's so worth it.
Listen To Some Haunting Music. When the weather starts to turn here in California it's the automatic time to hit the playlist with all the haunting tones on it. There are so many different types of Halloween tones you can listen to but my favorite ones to listen to are all based on the movies I mentioned above. There are also plenty of playlist via Apple Music, Spotify, and Pandora, that provide the mood your looking for.
