OCC Lip Tar | First Impression
So I was so excited to try the OCC Lip Tar when I first bought it. Well honestly that was months ago, and it then sat in my makeup drawer and I never touched it. When I was trying to think of new beauty post to put out I automatically thought about lip products. With me being a lip product junkie I thought it would be fitting for me to just finally try to lip tar that had been sitting in my drawer for way to long. Now everything I have heard about these lip tar has been nothing but good. All of the Youtube ladies I follow swear by them and I of course didn't think I wasn't going to feel the exact way.
When I went to pick up this lip tar at Sephora I actually wasn't going for a red, but more of a nude color. During the time of shopping I was out of luck and the color I wanted was out of stock. Isn't that always the story ladies, we can't ever find what we want, but still buy something. But back to the review. I had no problem paying the $18 price tag for the matte formula lip tar in Stalker. I think it's actually really cool that it comes with it's own little lip brush and pouch.
Now for the process of trying it out finally. I was excited when I opened it and started to play with it. I swatched the color first on my arm and was excited I didn't need much product to actually get a good swatch. The swatch dried fast and was matte within about 60-90sec. It also didn't come off my arm fully until I scrubbed it with my exfoliator.
Putting it on my lips was a little more difficult. I had to use several coats to get the color I actually wanted and then it took forever to actually dry to a matte finish. In fact I don't even think it fully went matte until after I had eaten and it was basically a stain by then. I did love that it had a very minty sensation when applying it to my lips. I did have to be super careful after, while it was drying because it will transfer to your teeth without you noticing.
I first applied the lip tar at 2:23pm and as you can see it looks great. No feathering, perfect color, despite the gloss finish I still really liked it. I went about my day of editing and making phone calls. By the time I checked it an hour later it had already started to feather on my upper and bottom lip. Since I knew I wasn't going to have it on to long after dinner, I didn't want to reapply the color. Right after eating dinner I snapped a photo(5:45pm), and well you can see it's totally just a sheer color with a ton of feathering around my lips.
Now I'm not 100% disappointed in this product and will give it another go with a lip liner and possibly a primer. For my first impression I give it 3 out of 5 stars. Note, if you want to get this off your lips invest in a good exfoliating lip product. I didn't have any more of my brown sugar scrub on hand so I just used my tooth brush to really get the color off my lips. If you have tried another color and have any type of tips for me please leave them in the comments below.
