Co-Washing Conditioners for Type 4 Naturally Curly Hair
I have played around with my share of conditioners and deep conditioners to find what works for my hair type. Not everything has worked, and it's been a struggle to find things I am madly in love with. With what I've tried, what my friends have raved about, and what the market has hyped up; I thought of no other way then to share with all my curly girls what conditioners I have worked or not worked.
Herbal Essence Co-Washing conditioner is one of my cheaper alternatives when I don't want to go out and buy something new to try. Don't get me wrong I love this conditioner. It cleans my hair and that's what it's supposed to do. The one thing I have noticed when using it is that it's not all that moisturizing. My hair doesn't feel as stripped as shampoo but it doesn't feel as conditioned as I would like it to be. The smell is great, which is a plus but the slip isn't great. I like my co-washing conditioner to do multiple jobs and this only does one, clean.
Aussie Moist conditioner is my favorite! Not only does this conditioner clean my hair but it moisturizes and helps detangle my hair. Like I said I like a conditioner to do multiple jobs and this one definitely does. It also smells really great and it's like the Aussie 3-Minute Miracle Treatment. The only differences that I can find between the two are that the Moist conditioner is slightly thinner in consistency. For the price, size, and what it does I highly recommend it to everyone!
Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle was my favorite co-washing conditioner when I first started my hair journey. Not only was is cheap, but made from natural products. I used to stock up on bottles of this because it was always sold out. Unfortunately Trader Joe's no longer carries it, which is such a bummer. Slip is great, the tea tree really cleaned my hair, and it also left my hair moisturized. For the longest I just used this and never really shampooed my hair! If you can get your hands on this either on amazon or ebay, don't hesitate.
Trader Joe's Nourish Spa conditioner is still available at Trader Joe's but is currently not in my hair care rotation. When starting my hair journey I tried all the Trader Joe's hair care line so I could see which one I liked the most. This was okay and the only reason I say that is because it really didn't amaze me. It breaks down product build up, leaves my hair feeling clean, and is average when it comes to slip for detangling. I know plenty of people who love this conditioner, so if you want to try it try it. It just isn't my cup of tea.
Herbal Essence Hello Hydration conditioner is probably already under your sink. This conditioner is a favorite for almost every natural that I know. Hydrating, cleans the scalp and hair, and it also smells great. Don't forget that the pump size container is also only $6. What a steal and what else can you ask for when looking for something you're going to be using a lot. I use this to detangle, to mix with a couple of my deep conditioning treatments, and as my regular conditioner after shampooing. If you haven't jumped on the bandwagon, just do it. I haven't met anyone who hasn't used and like this conditioner.
