I get a lot of questions about my hair and the products I use. A lot of them are the same questions so I thought I would just do a question and answer post about my hair. Any other questions you want to ask, either about hair or anything else, please send them to me on Twitter @_rundomrun_. I will start answering questions at 10am PST on Friday February 7th. So tomorrow send your questions and lets chat it up. Don't forget to hashtag #nikkishavenQ&A as well.

What's your hair type? I don't type my hair. I do this because I am not particularly concerned about the curl pattern of my hair as I am the general health of my hair. But since so many of you ask I would have to say it's a type 4 curl. All my hair doesn't curl the same so I would say 4a-4b if I had to distinguish the majority.

Did you big chop? I did not big chop. I transitioned for a year while cutting little by little off every 2 months or so.

How long have you been natural? I have been natural since March 15 2012. It will be 2 years this coming March, but I will be 3 years post perm at the end of this month.

How do you get your curls to 'pop'? I can honestly say I haven't found products that get my curls to 'pop' or otherwise be super defined. So I don't wear wash n go's. I do love the Mixed Chicks Leave in Conditioner because it will define my curls but i can never get them to stay that way once my hair fully dries.

What do you use for hot oil treatments? For my hot oil treatments all I use is Trader Joe's organic Coconut oil and some Vitamin E oil. Sometimes I heat them up together before hand or I just massage them both into my scalp and down my hair shaft, with out heating. I then proceed to wrap my hair in a plastic bag/cap and wrap with a hot towel out of the dryer. I do this anywhere from 30mins to 2hours. It really just depends on the day.

What products do you use? At the current moment the products I am using are the Trader Joe's Nourish Conditioner, Coconut oil, As I am Leave in, Cantu Shea Butter Leave in, vitamin e oil, and a denman brush.

How often do you shampoo your hair? I shampoo my hair only once a month. The rest of the days I cowash my hair, which I do 2 times a week.
