Nikki is that friend who is there for you at any given moment to talk about everything from life, decorating, fashion, and fitness.
My alter ego Nikki was "born" when I was the ripe age of 19, back in 2009. She was that girl who was bold, confident, and did everything with the class of a supermodel. It wasn't until 2012 that I wanted to share all that with the interweb.
Nikki's Haven is now an ever evolving space where I share my tomboy-meets-runway style, life happenings, design tips, and sometimes the occasional fitness advice. What started as a personal outlet back in 2012 has become so much more. Little did I know that my inspirations, personal style diary, and reflections as an athlete, would lead me down a fun new path. I am so thankful for all the supportive readers and various people I have met through Nikki's Haven these past years.
As you explore this little haven of the interweb, I hope you find the inspiration you are looking for! I've always wanted Nikki's Haven to be a home for the dreamers, lovers, and that person who has a little alter ego inside, screaming to come out. My mission? To inspire all the dreamers, lovers, and determined find their true inner bad ass; all while conquering the world! And if this is your first time here, WELCOME! If you want to know more about me please read below. Thank you for following my journey - you all continue to inspire me to make myself and this little slice of haven better!!
I'm a born, raised, and overly proud Northern California girl. Even though I grew up in a small town just outside the the bay area, I've always looked at myself as a city girl. Well that totally changed when I jetted 3,000 miles east for college. I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I picked up my southern twang, my love for whiskey, an undying passion for small towns, and a desire for writing my feelings on the internet.
After graduating from UNC in 2011 with a bachelors in media studies and production, I knew all I wanted to do was continue to run. The first year as a post collegiate athlete was hard (just plain awful actually), so in the summer of 2012 I moved back to my hometown in Northern California and rededicated myself to my true love (running of course). This is where I slowly fell head over heels with coaching, giving back to my community, and exploring my evolving style.
Jump forward six years and I am now a professional athlete, sponsored by a great organization, coaching at Sacramento State University, and still writing my feelings on the internet. Six years ago I couldn't fully imagine that in 2016 I would be at the Olympic Trials, become a college coach, and move away from home all in the same year. As my life has started to evolve into even more then I could ever imagine; and as I continue to grow and learn more each day, I'm excited to share with you all my coming journeys, life lessons, and daily life through my blog.
I have a love for entertaining, laughing with friends, styling, and reading a good book. I'm my happiest when I'm creating and exploring. I couldn't ask for a better way to share everything with all you, but through this outlet.
